Con Ja Nai XXIII will be held on February 11th, 2017 at the Modern Languages Building on the University of Michigan’s Central Campus. As it is a campus building, vendor spaces will be a little unconventional, so we have provided more detailed information to help you plan your trip. This is the first year we have been allowed to have vendors, so please bear with us through our learning process, and please do not hesitate to let us know how to improve.
This is a general map of the MLB. Vendor spaces are designated as A, B, D, and E. C is reserved for Artists.
The small circles in the vendor areas are actually pillars that divide the areas into sections. Areas A and E have 2 pillars, while B and D have 3, which also gives a general idea of the size of the areas. The space between two pillars will fit two 8-foot tables, while the “ends” will be able to fit one. The wooden benches that are visible can be moved if so desired. Each space has exactly one outlet. We will be providing two power strips each, but please don’t overload the circuits. Also note that some spaces have drinking fountains or vending machines.
The plan for the day of CJN is to hopefully open the building by 7am to allow for 3 hours of set up time before CJN starts at 10am. A loading area is available, and vendor spaces are on the first floor. CJN staff will be available to help vendors unload if desired. CJN staff will also be available throughout the day to assist vendors with watching tables or lunch breaks. The prize giveaway in the main programming auditorium is scheduled to be from 7pm-8pm, and we expect all attendees to be at that event. As such, that gives vendors an hour to tear down and load up. Again, CJN staff will be available to help if desired. Should you require additional time to tear down, please start before 7pm.
Detailed pictures of spaces follow.
Space A (drinking fountain)
Space B (vending machine):
We suggest using the extra area for storage, as the vending machine is in the way.
Space D (drinking fountain):
Space E (vending machines, telephone booth):
We discourage setting anything substantial up near the vending machines.
